Can anyone join this course?

Yes. Whether you are a busy mother racing around ticking off the next task on your never ending ‘To Do’  list or a commuter chained to a desk for 12 hours a day, hunched over devices, or someone who is looking for an alternative exercise regime to the gym or to learn a new skill. Whoever you are, Breaking Ballet is for you.

 

What are the key benefits?

The Breaking Ballet course will help you towards achieving the posture of a dancer. You will gain long, lean muscles (no bulk), toned arms and a toned, trim core. Your bottom (as well as your spirits) will lift and your thighs will get trimmer. Tension in the body will be released and your mobility will improve. Most importantly, you will reconnect with your body and carry with you a renewed sense of self and confidence, without pounding your body into the ground.

Who is Breaking Ballet for?

Everybody. Ballet workouts are completely inclusive and can be part of a sustainable and enjoyable health and fitness regime for life.  Everyone can do it and should do it. Adults of all ages, body shapes, sizes and fitness levels. 

 

How many videos will I receive during the course?

You will have access to a total of 25 videos. 5 of these are the short, Ballet Bites videos, providing you with information during the first week of the course on the correct technique.  For each of the next 6 weeks you will receive 3 workout videos per week. There is also a Warm Up video and a Cool Down video, both of which should be completed at the beginning and end of each workout if time allows.  You are free to use any of the videos during the final week of the course.

 

How do I access the streaming of the workouts?

Once you have joined the course you will have access to the videos from a Dashboard by selecting ‘Breaking Ballet’. They will stream from the master server to your device.

 

What devices can I use to stream the workouts?

 You can use your laptop, smartphone, or desktop to stream the videos. You can also use a SMART TV for the PRO version that your can order on a USB stick

 

How long is each workout?

The length of them varies but generally the Ballet Bites videos are approximately 5 minutes long and the remaining workouts range between 6 and 15 minutes.

How long can I keep them?

You have access to the videos from your scheduled start date.  After the workout course has come to an end you will have access to all the videos for a further week to catch up on any missed workouts, or to increase your workout for a further week. However, since the streaming is licensed you cannot own the videos.

What if I can’t access the videos?

If you are unable to access your videos contact us and provide us with as much information as possible, in order for us to remedy the problem as quickly as possible.

How do I update my account details?

Once you have joined the Breaking Ballet course, you can access your details from clicking on your name in the top, right-hand corner, then click on ‘My Account’.

What do I receive in the Breaking Ballet PRO version?

The 8 Week Video course on a USB stick for  PC or Smart TV, Postures Handbook, 8-Week Guide, Diet Diary, Swap Poster,  Workouts Poster and a Certificate sent on completion.

Do I need any equipment?

You will need a yoga mat for comfort during the floor exercises and the back of a chair/table/worktop that you can hold on to for barre work and a clear space to move.

What should I wear?

Wear anything you like that is comfortable and allows your body to move freely (i.e. not jeans). Bare feet, or socks/pilates sticky socks, or ballet flats are all fine, although if you are working on a non-carpeted floor (which is preferable) you may find bare feet a little tricky so use socks to allow your feet to move more freely on the floor.

How do I ensure I’m doing the workouts safely and correctly?

The Ballet Bites videos will help you master the basic technique, positions and movements before you enter the virtual studio.  In addition, you will receive guidance on technique from Sarah in the weekly Facebook check-ins.  However, know your own body and how it feels. If at any stage you feel discomfort, sharp pain, dizziness or nausea you should stop.

Can I do the workout pregnant?

It is important to exercise safely (possibly under supervision by an instructor) during pregnancy, especially if you are considering a new type of exercise. Due to the online nature of this course, it is not advisable to join while pregnant. Some of the floor work is done reclining on your back and ladies in their second and third trimesters should not be in this position. It would be better to find a local class with an experienced instructor who can monitor you while exercising, to be safe.

I have recently had a baby. Can I join the course?

It is advisable to wait at least 3 months postpartum before starting a new fitness regime. Special care must be taken regarding the type of exercise you do, especially the type and intensity of abdominal exercises,  due to the changes in the abdominal wall and pelvis. Sometimes during pregnancy there is a separation of the Linea Alba (the central line between the Rectus Abdominis muscles) causing a condition called diastesis recti. 

So you MUST see your GP BEFORE starting a new activity in the 3 months after childbirth.

 

What if I am unable to attend scheduled Live Facebook Sessions?

That’s not a problem at all. When you log in to the Breaking Ballet Facebook Group you will see there is a Question Box, which is a ‘pinned post’ at the top of the group. All the questions that were asked and answered by me in the Live session will remain in this box for you to read.
